An Egyptian Limestone Bust of a Female, c. New Kingdom 1550-1070 B.C.

Measurements: 11 5/8 inches height (including the stand), 7 1/4 inches (just the piece)

Provenance: Property from an Australian private collector, who began collecting during the 1940s whilst in the merchant navy, he stopped collectiong in the 1970s when he retired from the navy due to ill health; Bonhams London, 2008 lot 49.

This is a fragmentary limestone bust from ancient Egypt’s New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BCE), depicting a woman with a serene expression. The head features an elaborate wig with a net-like bead pattern and braided strands.
